Wind load, snow load & permitting in Washington
Different regions across Washington have slightly different requirements for residential garage door installation:
- Wind load. High-wind regions see sustained gusts above 90 mph. We spec doors and bracket reinforcement to DASMA wind-load class W-3 or W-4 for those ZIPs.
- Snow load on cantilever overhangs. Craftsman builds and homes with deep eaves require torsion-spring sizing that accounts for the additional drift load on the door header.
- Permits. A like-for-like residential door swap inside Washington city limits does not require a permit. Header modification, opening enlargement, and any work that alters the rough opening does — we pull and close the permit on your behalf.
- HOA approval. Many HOAs require pre-approval of color and panel style. We supply the manufacturer spec sheet for your HOA application.
